How to Accept an Invitation for Your Ex's Wedding

So you get invited to your ex-boyfriend/girlfriend's wedding, and are thinking about denying the invitation. How can you accept it without having second thoughts? Ask yourself: Can you bear seeing your once-beloved person be married to someone else? What should you do?

[edit] Steps

  1. Control your emotions. Whatever happened is in the past, your ex has obviously moved on and was decent enough to invite you to a big day. Your relationship is over; leave it in the past.
  2. Reply like you would to any invitation. If you want to go then say "Yes, I would love to attend and I look forward to it" or something along those lines. Do not start talking about the past, that's the last thing they want to hear on their wedding day.
  3. Keep it short; don't waffle into pointless things. All they want is a simple yes or no, not your life story. If you have important changes in your own life, like a child or a new job, there will be time to bring it up (briefly) at the reception.

[edit] Tips

  • Be natural
  • Keep it short and concise

[edit] Warnings

  • If you cannot imagine your ex with someone else and are not over the breakup, it might be better not to go.
  • Be sure to attend with someone way hotter than your ex-. Hire an escort, if necessary.
  • Be especially nice to the groom. Treat him like a favorite Secret Service agent who has taken a bullet for you.
  • Behave flawlessly at the wedding and reception.
