[edit] Steps
- Start off by listening to some of the softer songs, like Divine Intervention or New American Classic. Because of the soft vocals, they're easier to find beautiful.
- When you move on to harder songs, make sure you're not just listening to the vocals. Adam Lazzara (The lead singer) has a strange singing style, that at first doesn't sound that much like singing. So listen for two guitars, drums, and if you can, bass. It'll be easier to love them when you see how everything fits together.
- When you're ready to listen to the vocals head on, listen closely. Though Adam isn't always singing, per se, there are notes. It's not just screaming (though he does that too). Listen to the melody of his voice, even if it's hard to hear at first.
- Read the lyrics. A lot of their songs have really great lyrics. If you try to understand them, you might get a lot more out of some songs.
