How to Apreciate Country Music when You Hate It

Country music isn't for everyone. Even if you absolutely detest it there is hope for you. You don't have to love country music to listen and appreciate it.

[edit] Steps

  1. Try to understand the lyrics. Do they rhyme? Are they symbolic? Do they tell a story? Most country music is either about love, partying, or western things. This helps you to listen past the accent/music style and to understand its meaning.
  2. Try focusing on the musical part. Pick out each instrument and try to identify it. Maybe if you play an instrument, you can try to find it in the song. Sometimes a song will only have acoustic guitar, but people usually don't pick out the bass and strings orientated with the song. Try to hear things in the music that other people might not catch.
  3. Endure the music and eventually it will end. Don't let it get to your head, just let the music annoy you. Each song can only be a couple minutes, anyway, right?

[edit] Tips

  • If you really don't like country music, but are forced to listen to it, suggest changing the song.

[edit] Warnings

  • The biggest possible warning is that you might get hooked on country music!
