How to Ask Your Girlfriend to Hold Hands

Holding hands---the very thought can make your hands begin to sweat, but if you can get the courage to do it, you will be extremely happy you did.

[edit] Steps

  1. Make sure that your girlfriend likes holding hands. If you don't know, ask her. Some people just don't like holding hands.
  2. If you think she likes you back you can usually just when you are walking just reach out and grab it, also you can ask her to hold your hand. You can simply say, "Do you want to hold hands?," or you can be creative and:
    • Tap her lightly. On the thigh will do. Not higher though. That may be deemed inappropriate. Tap her with the side of your hand, like where you would karate chop if your hand was flat This should get her attention. If not, continue until she gives you a signal to back off, or looks at you.
    • Hold out your hand, and look down. She should grab it. Don't get mad if she doesn't, though. Cupped or laced is her decision.

[edit] Tips

  • Don't rush!
  • Don't get mad or break up if she doesn't want to hold your hand. Just give it time!
  • Try to make your first hand-holding session very easy for the both of you.
  • If she rejects your hand do not grab it. She may not think it is the right time.
  • Brush your hand against hers, perhaps with a light tickle. Be subtle about it, not aggressive.
  • Make sure your hands are not sticky or smell.
  • Just ask her If you can and then hold out your hand.
  • Your hands might get sweaty during this process, this is completly normal, if you are feeling uncomfortable about this let go, remove the sweat and go back to how it was
  • if you want to take things further, tickle their palm with your finger

[edit] Warnings

  • Make sure you know what you are getting into.
  • Some girls won't appreciate the fact that you had to ask, so if you like her, or think she likes you, be brave!
  • Make sure your hands are clean and you haven't been touching anything dirty.
  • Make sure you aren't so nervous that your hands are dripping with sweat. But, you never know, hers might be too.
  • Don't try to force your hand into hers or force your fingers to entwine with hers. It can lead to negative feelings or make you seem 'forward'.
