"A garden without birds, is like a day without sunshine" so goes the saying. This is very true, birds are cute, interesting and wildy amusing to watch and attract to your garden. But how do you attract them? How can you know what birds you are seeing? And what food attracts which bird? Well, just read on to find out

[edit] Steps

  1. Don't use harmful chemicals in your garden. If you do this, you kill the food source of the birds and the birds also. For example, try to use a bio-pesticides or you can use a water spray to fight of plant lice.
  2. Give extra food for the birds.Birds need some extra food for surviving the harsh winters. In breeding season the birds need more energy to feed their young.
  3. Make shelter for the birds in your garden. You can help birds by hanging up nest boxes what is big enough for the bird. Make sure that the front of the box is hanging out of the reign or sun.
  4. Go shopping for feeders; if you want to attract birds, you will need to buy at least two classic seed feeders, a wire peanut feeder, a sturdy bird bath and (this is compulsory) a bird table. You're also going to need food, that is especially formulated bird peanuts, seeds (I very highly recommend if your going to buy ANY seed at all, get sunflower hearts, these are a firm favourite with most garden birds). Sadly, all this basic stuff will cost cost you at least £80 to £100. But, in the end its well worth it!
