How to Be Organized in Middle School

Middle school can be tough, but with the proper tools and organization, you can stay on top and be a straight A student! Here's how to do it.

[edit] Steps

  1. Buy a really nice book bag. Don't get those mesh book bags that fall apart easily, save those for gym. Get a book bag that has enough zippers and compartments so everything has a place. Try to put all your pencils and small supplies in the smallest compartment; your rulers, crayons and markers in the second smallest, and your books, notebooks, and paper in the largest.
  2. Try buying a binder. The giant bulky ones are very hard to take out and put in your book bag, so try buying one of the skinny ones so you can put your paper in it. Binders aren't the best places to put your pencils, but if you don't have a small compartment for them, a good idea would be to buy a pencil bag with holes so you can put it in your binder.
  3. Have your friends help you with your organization. If they can, have them help you buy your supplies. If you know that they are really organized, then you can ask them how to keep up with your organization and also ask them for tips on how to be organized. If you know they're not to good with organization this probably wouldn't be a good idea.
  4. Try setting up a schedule in the morning that will help you with staying organized. For example, look in your book bag and see what you need. Look around your house to see if you have it. Say you need a couple extra pencils, look around your house to see if you have a couple of pens. It is simple to stay organized when you have a schedule for the morning.
  5. Always have backup supplies. Make sure you have a couple of extra bucks to buy what you need at your bookstore, or if you don't have a bookstore at your school, have money to buy supplies at the local store in your neighborhood. Always have a plan.

[edit] Tips

  • Try keeping extra supplies at your house. You never know when you'll need it.
  • A good idea would be to stay organized from the start of the school year. It's always nice to start off on the right foot!
  • Don't be embarrassed to ask your teacher for help. There's nothing wrong with needing a pencil before a test. If s/he sees that your usually a well prepared student, they'll give you a hand. Don't ask too often though.

[edit] Warnings

  • If you bring money to school, keep it in a safe place.
  • If people start mooching off of you and asking for supplies, simply tell them no.
  • Don't spend all of your money buying supplies!
