How to Be Promoted from Vice President to President of a Club or Organization
Are you a vice president of a club or sport and you think you deserve to be president? Follow these tips to help you be president of the club you love.
[edit] Steps
- Observe the current president. By observing the person who you want to replace, you can see their strengths and weaknesses. See how people react to what they say and see what certain qualities work well for the position.
- Analyze yourself as a vice president. What are your strengths and weaknesses? Compare them to the president and see what you need to work on or improve.
- Ask around. Do a random poll and ask your peers what they look for in a good president. These are the people who will be voting for you so their opinion matters.
- Do your job well. You can't expect to be promoted by slacking off and not doing your own job. You have responsibilities and make sure you do it to the best to your abilities.
- Step up. If the president is unavailable, take responsibility and offer to help. If the president was supposed to hold a barbecue, offer to have it at your home. Offer to do things that the president is not able to do.
- Go above and beyond. Along with doing your job well, you need to prove to your peers that you deserve a better position. If you have to decorate a bulletin board, don't make it ordinary, make something that will stand out and will catch someone's eye. People will recognize your work and think highly of you.
- Show good leadership. A good president of anything encourages others, gives advice, and knows how to lead a group to success. Being a vice president, you still have some power to influence your peers. Use this to your advantage! Influence them and encourage them to do great things and people will see confidence in you.
- Earn the trust of your peers. Give them reason to trust you by doing something when you say you will, keeping a secret when asked, etc. This trust creates a close bond and can sometimes guarantee a vote.
[edit] Tips
- Make friends with some of your peers and that can also guarantee a vote.
- Tell your friends how you want to be promoted and sometimes they can help you get more votes.
[edit] Warnings
- Don't trash talk any competition because it will make you look bad.
- Don't force people to vote for you.
- Don't bribe people for their votes.
