How to Be Very Quiet and Reserved

Being a quiet person has its ups and downs. It is not as much a social change, but a personal choice. You can be quiet and reserved while keeping all your friends and still being yourself.

[edit] Steps

  1. Decide on why you want to be quiet or reserved. Many youths are quiet for many reasons, one of the main ones would be to concentrate on their studies. But to be a quiet person doesn't necessarily mean you are lonely, or devoted to school work or that you don't have many friends, it may just mean that you are a gentle person with a gentle spirit and a calm attitude to life.
  2. Promote your quietness. Not in a way that you tell the world you are a quiet and reserved person, but in a way to ensure that people take you seriously.
  3. Determine your level of reservation. Are you a quiet student who enjoys reading and writing? Are you a quiet person who enjoys sports? Or are you a quiet person who is well organized and seems to make lists for everything? These are just the start of a list of why you may be a quiet person.
  4. Wear clothes that make you feel good. Not necessarily make you look like a quiet person. Being quiet isn't a look but a choice. So wear clothes that make you feel happy. If you really like to wear jeans and T-shirts, look for jeans that suit your lifestyle and find tees that vary in design and style. Polos or T-shirts as well as 3 quarter sleeves etc. If you really like to wear skirts or trousers for boys, go for a flawless look. If you enjoy looking nice and pretty and dainty as well as reserved, try the Nancy Drew look, perhaps tone it down or up depending on your attitude. If you like to wear the latest trends, go for it. Being a quiet person doesn't mean you can't wear bright colors. All it means is that you may not want or like to be noticed. Try not to go for shimmery sequin strapless tops if you don't want to be noticed, but don't think you can't wear the cute hot pink singlet you saw in your favorite shop.
  5. Be yourself. If you're a quiet person, you don't have to not talk. Perhaps speaking in front of a crowd isn't your thing. But maybe you really like to write poetry to express your thoughts, or maybe you're on a debating team, standing for your opinions. Many quiet people keep diaries or journals, some don't, it doesn't matter. You may have a best friend that you can tell everything to, or you may not. Diaries are great to write what you feel and to put your thoughts into without expressing them.
  6. Try not to be a loner. Quiet people don't sit by themselves but sit with reserved friends or even with people that are opposite to them. You don't have to change friends to be a quiet and reserved person.

  • If you don't like being a quiet person, try new things like being on a team sport or start speaking aloud (speeches in school, or open mike sessions for poetry.)
