How to Be a Detroit Red Wings Fan

The Detroit Red Wings were originally founded in 1925. Since then the franchise has won twelve stanley cups and four of those in the last eleven years. You might have heard about this Hockey team but are not familiar with it. Here are some things you can do to be very familiar with this hockey club.

  1. Get to know the team.
    • Keep track of all of the key forwards that play for the Red Wings such as Pavel Datsyuk, Henrik Zetterberg, Tomas Homstrom, Kris Draper, Kirk Maltby, Johan Franzen, Dan Cleary, Darren McCarty and Marian Hossa.
    • Know who the key defensemen are for the Red Wings such as Brian Rafalski, Brad Stuart, Chris Chelios, Niklas Kronwall also Team Captain and six-time Norris Trophy winner Nicklas Lidstrom.
    • Know who the Goalies are for the Red Wings is such as Chris Osgood and Ty Conklin.
  2. Know who coaches the Red Wings and that person is Mike Babcock.
  3. Know who the General Manager of the Red Wings is and that is Ken Holland.
  4. Be familiar with the great players that have played for the Red Wings in years past such as Steve Yzerman, Gordie Howe, Ted lindsay, Brett Hull, Brendan Shanahan, Paul Coffey, Igor Larionov, Dominik Hasek, Larry Murphy, Luc Robatille, Sergei Fedorov and many others.
  5. Study the Key moments in frachise history especially in the last twelve years such as Steve Yzerman scoring in overtime to eliminate the St.Louis Blues in the second round of the 1996 stanley cup playoffs, winning the cup in 1997 for the first time in 42 years, repeating the cup in 1998 in honor of former defenseman Vladimir Konstantinov, Igor Larionov being the oldest player in NHL history to score in overtime in the 2002 stanley cup finals in game 3 against the Carolina Hurricanes and The Red Wings beating the Colorado Avalanche in Game 7 of the 2002 Confrence Finals 7-0.
