How to Be a Girly Girl

Do you love being girly? Its great for girls to express themselves in what ever way they like to. This is just for anyone who personally loves it which is great too! No matter who you are hopefully this how to will help you come into your more girly side!

[edit] Steps

  1. Substitute clumsiness and jerky movements with graceful and fluid actions. You'll feel like a fake if you just clump along while walking. True "girly girls" sort of look like they're floating.
  2. Buy clothing that fits and gives you a waist. The stores Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, American Eagle, Nordstrom, Hollister, Limited Too, Wet Seal, Aeropostale and Pacsun are suggested, but you don't have to go by these stores.
  3. Remember: makeup usually makes you look polished. Lip gloss and mascara is perfect for everyday wear. You can also wear cheek tints and eye shadow, if you want. Foundation makes your skin look flawless, but too much can look fake.
  4. Groom yourself every day. A good grooming routine everyday, is taking a shower, and shaving. Apply body lotion. The last step is perfume. Pick a custom scent for yourself to be your trademark.
  5. Look after your hair. Make sure you comb it with a wide toothed comb or a brush, wash it every day or every other day, depending on your hair type, and don't use too many hair products. Straightening your hair every day could cause serious damage, so use a heat protection spray! You can also go for soft curls.
  6. Keep in tip-top shape. Don't eat too much dessert. It would be smart to eat low-fat (or fat-free) foods. Exercise daily. However, this doesn't mean starve yourself. You don't have to be stick thin. As long as you're healthy, you're fine!
  7. Take care of your nails as well. Treat yourself to a pedicure/manicure, & make sure to keep from biting your nails, picking at them, etc. People notice your hands more than you think, and jagged nails don't look very nice.
  8. Use mostly pastel colors such as pink and baby blue. Especially pink. For girly girls it is a must have color. Purple is a very pretty color as well. However, you can still wear, red, green, black, etc. Just because you're a girly girl doesn't mean you have to wear pink or purple all the time.
  9. Have a bright personality, bubbly and happy. Don't giggle all the time, because people will find that really annoying. Instead, make other people laugh, and be really cute. Don't take yourself too seriously. Be sweet and friendly, do not yell too much.
  10. Get girly clothes - skirts, cute shirts, accessories, jeans, cute shorts...anything pink is good. Make an effort to look around. When you first start coming out of your "comfort" zone you won't like anything and will keep saying, "No" to everything you see. Go to every store you can. You might get tired of walking around, but just looking is a big step! Go with your friends who have style or with somebody who has any style different than yours! Let them help you, but develop your own style and don't just copy theirs.
  11. Wear jeans that fit. Don't wear low cut jeans if you don't feel comfortable, but make sure your jeans fit you. Not tight, not baggy. A belt is okay, but the fit says it all. Try on lots of brands, styles, cuts and sizes. Not every size jean will fit the same depending on the brand. The same goes with shirts. Not tight, not baggy. If your shirt is so tight you can see your bra or you have trouble getting your shirt off of your back, then it's too tight. If your shirt is so big that you can pull it up and see your belly button then it's too big( nothing against belly button shirts)! Things like camisoles are supposed to fit tight.
  12. Keep your teeth nice and white. There are several ways to get the perfect dazzling smile. If your teeth are crooked, don't shy away from braces. Just think of them as jewelry for your teeth! For whitening, you can either do it yourself at home with a store-bought product (such as crest white strips) or go to a dentist that also has expertise in the area of cosmetic dentistry to get them professionally whitened.
  13. Be romantic. Girliness is also associated with romance sometimes. Be sure to read/write romance novels and develop a keen interest in poetry. You can also make this your music style by listening to love songs.
  14. Listen to pop music.
  15. Hang out with gal pals. Girls love the mall, shopping, and almost anything associated with beauty. Get a group of friends and have a shopping spree, makeovers, a sleepover, or any girl-related activity.
  16. Keep a diary. Draw girly stuff in it, like anime, hearts, metoyou, other cartoon characters, flowers and so on.

[edit] Tips

  • Try not to worry what others think!
  • Say more hi than hey. It's more girly.
  • Never contemplate releasing any form of gas from your body in front of anyone under any circumstances.
  • Don't ever allow a foul expletive to exit your mouth, it's not ladylike.
  • Don't bend over to pick something up. It's not ladylike and nobody likes having someone else's backside in their face. It is also potentially embarrassing if you're wearing a short dress. Learn to crouch down elegantly instead!
  • Remember, wear lots of pink! Combine it with other colors, for example white, purple or even black. These are the colors that work best with pink.
  • Keep your grades as neat as your wardrobe.
  • Don't ditch your friends for some other people so you can fit in. Even if they're all boys or not girly, don't think that they'll ruin your girly girl style. And your friends are important in your life, you'll regret losing them.
  • Some pretty hairstyles are french braids, loose pigtails, messy buns, and The Fishtail Braid. If you're sick of your everyday hair, get it layered or go for a cute, girly cut. Ask your hair dresser what they think would suit you.
  • Make sure your teeth are in good shape, not stained, and breath smelling good.
  • A true girly girl knows that a purse is a must. Your purse should have the basics: lip gloss, mints/gum, perfume, a nail file, & whatever else you think you need!
  • A girly girl must not talk so loud and keep a pace of her speaking.
  • Have a good posture when sitting or standing.
  • Be polite to everyone you meet.
  • Don't wear too much makeup, just stick with your basics: lip gloss and mascara.
  • A girly girl should not have hair on places like her back, legs, underarms, etc.
  • Get some lip glosses and cute jewelry that suits you but don't go over the top.
  • Be yourself and don't try to change your personality.
  • Get rid of your backpack for school and buy a vintage shoulder-bag. It's much more mature and very girly. If you can't, add accessories to your backpack eg. spraying it. Or ask all your friends to sign on it.
  • Less lipstick, more lip gloss!
  • You don't have to stick with purple or pink-change the colors often.
  • Make sure your hair is neat ALL the time! Set it in a different hairstyle everyday, to make everyone dazzled. Don't always leave your hair open. Braid it! Curl it! Straighten it! Tie it!
  • Smile! No girl will be completed without a smile
  • Just remember don't try to be like others because that wont get you anywhere ( be yourself)
  • Don't speak potty language like what da heck, hey, etc.

[edit] Warnings

  • People might get jealous of you; pretty, popular, well-mannered girls often attract other people's envy. However, try and ignore it. Rumors can happen when jealousy occurs. Try to be calm about it. Try simply saying you don't know the whole story.
  • If you're not a girly girl at heart, don't try to fake it. Be yourself.
  • Be nice to all people. Remember: What goes around comes around.
  • Some people don't like girly girls. Don't worry about them - everyone has their own likes and dislikes. It's your life, and your choice. You could even be friends with these people, if you want! This way, they'll see that not all girly girls are "stuck-up."
  • Make sure not to overdo the makeup. A little makeup looks good, but if you pile it all on, you'll end up looking like Bozo the clown.
  • Don't overdo it. You don't want to become like Daphne Blake, who spends her life-time money on clothes. No, don't be like that. Instead, try wearing clothes like Sharpay Evans. She has a neat taste in style!
  • Don't dress like a guy like wearing baggy clothes, sweatshirts, baseball caps, vests, etc.
  • Don't make a wacky hairstyle. Never put gel, just hair cream. Don't make spikes. Don't dye them a different color like blue or green. If you want, you could dye one small strand of hair. But not pink!
  • Don't use tattoos. Not even fake ones or ones that peel off. It's just not girly.
  • Don't draw around your body. Write something funky on your hands and keep it that way. Otherwise, take a bath every other day and don't scribble anything in pen around your body. You don't want to become like Amy Winehouse! Sorry if you like her, but her tattoos and drawings all around her body are a major violation if you want to be girly.
  • Being a girly girl is not the only way to be feminine. This attitude may be useful in early adolescence (10-15 years old) at attracting boys, but later than that it's just childish and silly. If you're the cool, mature way of feminine, or the sexy, mysterious way of feminine, or the classy, refined way of feminine, you shouldn't change yourself into a ditzy, stereotypical Barbie girl. It's way better the way you are now.
  • You may lose your guy friends, if you suddenly change from the best pal they used to know into an annoying girly girl that likes everything they don't like. They still want to be able to talk to you, and being too different from your old self may result in poor communication with your guy friends. If your being girly girl because of your friends then you might get hurt later dont be like britney spears messing up things.
