How to Be a Good Girlfriend in Middle School

A bit shy when it comes to your new boyfriend? He's absolutely the best boyfriend in the world, so how do you keep up your end? Here are some tips on keeping a keeper.

[edit] Steps

  1. Think of why this guy is so great. Then think of why he chose you. There had to be some reason he chose you over all the others, even if you don't know it.
  2. Make him feel good about himself. A small compliment, a tad show of jealousy, anything that'll make him feel good. Hey, let him win a game of Guitar Hero (even if you are really better than him).
  3. Be yourself. He chose you, not some other girl. Let him get to know the real you.
  4. Be affectionate. Both you and your guy will love it when you hug and hold hands.
  5. Give him space! Guys will feel smothered if you don't give them enough space.
  6. Ask him questions about your relationship. As long as they are not awkward, they will benefit the two of you.
  7. Don't be afraid to talk to him, show him who you really are, and if he doesn't like it, it's his loss. You won't get anywhere if you just play it safe and that can be boring for a guy.

[edit] Tips

  • Don't be pressured to do anything you don't want to. If you're not ready to kiss him, don't do it. If he's pressuring you, dump him and move on. It's your life, not his.
  • Keep in touch with him if one of you are sick or on a trip.
  • Make sure you keep in touch with your girlfriend/boyfriend. If you don't, they will feel left out and dump you.
  • Try to get him gifts on Valentine's day.
  • Befriend his friends. That way, you can sit with him at lunch, or hang out at recess without him feeling like he has to give up his friends for you. Try to encourage him to talk with your friends too, but don't be too pushy.

[edit] Warnings

  • Don't be annoying. This might sound mean, but nagging the guy about how he spends too much time with his friends can be annoying to anyone. If you've got a problem in the relationship, talk it out.
  • Be confident. Things will work out. If you look for the bad in a person or hope for the worst, that's exactly what you'll get.
  • Don't cheat. This should be a no-brainer. For one, if he finds out, you've gotten yourself into a huge mess, two, it'll make him feel like he isn't good enough, and last, if your reading this article you most likely want to be a good girlfriend, not seem like one.
  • 'Don't be weird. Some little gifts are nice, but don't go out of your way to buy matching outfits with each other's faces on them. That's a little creepy, same with pet names, unless he wants to, too. Make sure you're not to clingy and weirding him out.
