[edit] Steps

  1. Don't let the power get to your head: If you think being a hall monitor is all about telling kids what to do and being bossy. that's absolutely wrong being a hall monitor is about helping your school. younger kids might look up to you. and you do not want to set a bad example. so remember don't abuse your job as a hall monitor.
  2. Don't break the rules: Since you are the hall monitor that corrects students that are breaking the rules. Don't break them yourself! You're a hall monitor because you understand the rules and will follow them. so if you break the rules your breaking your promise as a hall monitor.
  3. Stay Organized: A tidy hall monitor is a happy hall monitor. stay organized and clean. Don't wear a dirty shirt and jeans to school. Dress your part. take a shower everyday. and change everyday. no body like a dirty hall monitor...well nobody really likes anyone who is dirty.
  4. Don't give your friends a life or two: If your friends break the rules you should tell them and write them up. Don't get sucked into this sentence, "Come on! i'm your best friend. Don't write me up." But if they do something very minor like running in the halls give them a warning. But if it's something major you have to write them up. see more in the next step.
  5. Know when and where to write them up: You can't write them up for talking. and you can't ignore students that are fighting. no when and where to write them up. When to give them a warning: running, goofing around, playing sports in the halls, and other minor goofing. This is what you should write them up for or tell a teacher right away: fighting, vandalism, harassment, bullying, bringing weapons, public sex, sexual harassment, nudity, and other major rule breaking.
  6. Let your classmates hear you loud and clear: Don't say, "Please don't do that." softly and then walking away. Talk in a clear loud voice so your classmates hear you. don't scream either. and don't curse at them. they will think you're mean and abusing your duties. check step 1.
