How to Be a Great Wiffleball Player
This article is good for kids who are just starting wiffleball or someone who has been in the game for a while and needed something to read.
[edit] Steps
- Learn to pitch as this is the most important part of the game and if you are trying to start up a team and you have no pitching, you won't make it very far. Most people only throw 4-6 pitches. If you have more than about 8, you should cut down from that so you can concentrate on making the other ones better.
- Here are the main pitches a pitcher has in their arsenal.
- Slider: Hold the slider so the holes are facing to the right for righties, and left for lefties. throw this pitch at a 3/4 arm angle and the ball will slide a good 2-3 feet.
- Riser: hold the holes down, and throw this pitch submarine or sidearm which ever you prefer. if this pitch is thrown correctly the ball should rise.
- Drop/Sinker: Hold this pitch so the holes are facing up. make you fingers as if you are giving a peace sign and move your index finger so is is making a cross with the holes.
- Screwball: Hold the ball so the holes are facing in. to the left for righties and to the right for lefties. hold the ball so you are completely covering about 3 holes with you index and middle fingers and throw across your body.
- Curveball: Hold the holes the same way you would a slider. Hold the ball so your index, middle finger, and thumb form a C. put your thumb on the middle part of the ball where all of the holes meet, and your two other fingers on the solid part. throw this pitch overhand and snap wrist as you would for a normal curveball.
- Hitting: Hitting isn't the most crucial part of the game but you do need it to get runs. most hitters really get the runs they need off mistake pitches which in most cases are the pitches that hang, but if you want to be a good hitter you need to be able to foul off or put those tough pitches into play.
- If you really want to become a better hitter you can fool around and have pick up games with a friend.
[edit] Tips
- Make sure you never throw more than 60-70 pitches. especially if you play baseball because you can ruin your arm.
- Never try to play before a baseball game because you can also ruin your arm.
- If you really want to get in the game you need to find a field. To make a field, all you really need us an open space, and a fence.
- The most important thing is to never ever get cocky. It will come back to haunt you believe me.
[edit] Warnings
- You can ruin your baseball swing, and hurt your arm if you play to much wiffleball while you are in baseball season.
- Never get too intense.
