Do you want to be looked upon as the cool girl or guy who always has plans, is always hanging out and partying, and is someone everyone wants to be friends with? It's not as hard as you think.
[edit] Steps
- Have your own Group. First of all, you need your own close friends that go to the same school as you. Whether it's a large group or just a few people, you need to have some reliable people you can count on. If you have many casual friends but no close friends, you will seem like a social climber and nothing more.
- Make Your Group Known. Your group of friends shouldn't blend in with the crowd. Whether you guys are known as the rebels, hippies, preppies, or whatever, you should have a distinct title.
- Make Contact with Other People. Good friends should not only be limited to people in your group. It's easy to befriend people in your classes, but a true socialite hangs out with people outside of her grade and school. This may be harder. Some ideas for finding friends outside of school are calling up people you used to know from previous schools or classes. You could join a school club, a class, or get a job.
- Extend Your Circle. Ask your friends to introduce you to their own friends. Become regular with them. If every single one of your friends introduces you to at least one more person, imagine how many more people you could be talking with now.
- Take Care of Your Appearance. Keep your skin clear and moisturized, keep your hair clean and pretty, and, if you are a girl, wear some makeup just to enhance your features. Don't wear too much, though. The less makeup you wear, the more people think your are naturally beautiful, but it's perfectly fine and normal to wear coverup and eyeliner/mascara. If you don't known how to put on makeup, ask your mom or friends to help you, or just experiment with it.
- Develop Your Own Style. Don't dress exactly like everyone else. The perfect wardrobe to make yourself stand out and be noticed is a little bit of everything. Have some trendy pieces that all the preps are wearing, a few items that are more urban or ghetto, a few rocker or vintage clothes, and pair them with everyday clothing that you would not normally find cute, like a plain white tee or baggy black hoodie. Everything has the potential to be hot. Look around your house and find items that make you look great and will make you stand out, without being too much, of course. You should be generally normal, but have that special edge. Don't dress too sexy, or people may call you slutty, but low-cut shirts or tight clothes are definitely good in moderation.
- Make Plans. Now that you've got plenty of friends, hang out with them! You should almost always have something to do. Going home after school is acceptable sometimes, like if you have a lot of homework, but try to hang out everyday. And definitely make plans for Fridays and Saturdays. Do something really fun and crazy so you are remembered for being fun, and after wards, tell the people that you had a lot of fun and you guys should do it again sometimes. Take pictures. Just have fun, but don't do anything dangerous or stupid just to get attention. That will give you a bad reputation and repel people from you, not attract them.
- Earn Your Parent's Trust. You cannot be a teenage socialite if your parents never let you out of the house! Gain their trust, settle on a curfew for you, and try to generally be on good terms with them. You can always brag that you are rebellious to your parents, but don't exaggerate too much. Everyone likes a rebel, but no one likes a liar.
- Keep up Your Grades. Just because you are cool and social doesn't mean you are stupid. If your grades are good, people will respect you even more.
- Be A Little Rebellious. NEVER do drugs, have unprotected sex, or anything you don't want to do. You will regret it in the future. A little rebellion never hurt, however. But remember - BE CAREFUL. You may end up getting caught by the police, doing something bad for your body, or losing the respect of your friends. Make sure this does not happen.
- Get A Facebook or MySpace. Facebook and MySpace are GREAT ways to meet new people and stay in touch with friends. Use these websites to post pictures of yourself so people can see your cool style, or make plans over it.
- Get a Cell Phone. How are you going to meet people without a cell phone? What happens when you get lost or you don't see your friends anywhere? You need a phone.
[edit] Tips
- NEVER leave a day or weekend unplanned. It's okay to stay home once in a while, but a socialite almost always is hanging out with her friends and acquaintances.
- ALWAYS keep making friends. Don't stop at 5 10 or 15 friends, even if you are hanging out almost every day with them. Always, always, always keep socializing and making new friends and acquaintances.
- Never keep your outfits the same or only one style. Switch it up every once in a while, even if it's something completely different. Be preppy one day, rocker the next, ghetto the next, and the next day, and mixture of everything!
- Don't be afraid to flirt a little. When you are a socialite, you will know many people, and may run into a boy or girl you find attractive.
- NEVER blow off your homework or important things. You must have priorities, not just partying and hanging out.
- NEVER do drugs like cocaine or heroin or crystal meth. Those are not casual drugs, they will change your life forever.
- DO NOT get caught by the police or your principal doing something you shouldn't. Don't mess up your future just to feel cool.
- Always be confident. Tell yourself you look great today, and walk with your head held high. Low self esteem is NOT attractive.
- Always be nice to your friends. Treat them all well and equally. Joking is fine, but avoid fights and arguments that can hurt feelings.
