[edit] Steps

  1. Remove any loose dirt. This includes any pine needles, leaves, Cones, equipment, etc. Make sure the tent is emptied out before doing any cleaning.
  2. Hose it down with clear water. Rub with a damp cloth or a soft brush you would use to wash a car.
  3. Wash the tent in the tub. If the tent is small enough, you can always wash it off in the tub. NEVER use laundry detergent, use Nikwax Tech or a non-detergent product sold at camping stores.
  4. Rinse it off. Make sure you rinse it off thoroughly because the tent sometimes collect soapy water which are diffcult to get rid of.
  5. Dry the tent. Put the tent in your backyard or basement and let it dry. The tent may take a while to dry.
  6. Use water repellent Use it on the coated fabric floor and lower side walls of the tent and the rain fly. This must be applied while the tent is wet.
