You know how a color looks like, but how would you describe a color to someone that doesn't?
[edit] Steps
- First find a blind person, or practice with an inanimate object (rock, shirt, or cell phone)
- Then describe what the color might mean to that person, use words the person can relate to, like soft, light, cheerful. Words that the colors might represent to you
- If the person is older, you can tell how your eyes work with reflections from the sun, or what light we can and cannot see (ultra violet, rainbows of light)
- If the person is younger, remember to tell them how when you put two colors together it makes another color, like red and yellow together make orange, so that they can connect these colors in their mind
- You can also tell them about the color wheel becuase this might help them make connections between differant colors.
[edit] Tips
- keep it simple and straight forward, and don't get frustrated, these people have never seen color before, and they will have a lot of questions if the topic arises.
- If you do not know the person well you may want to avoid the topic all together becuase it may be a emotion subject for them.
