How to Educate the Below Average Child in India

Most Indians find children in primary / middle school are not able to cope with all of the subjects. Knowledge of all the subjects taught up to 10th class are necessary. But all the children are not capable to study them. They are branded as poor students and any talents that are latent in them are not identified by anyone. To make the most of the natural talents of such children and to make them self reliant in future, following steps are suggested.

[edit] Steps

  1. Up to 5th class, the child's strong and weak areas should be studied.
  2. The child's talent in vocational activities like carpentry, tailoring, painting etc. should also be identified.
  3. An option to study less of the weak subjects and more of the stronger ones should be given to the child with the consultation of the parent and teacher.
  4. Again his/her performance up to 8th class should be studied.
  5. Again an option to be given to the child to pursue the subjects of his / her liking and training for above skills to be given up to 10th.
  6. If the child cannot pursue studies beyond 10th due to any reason, he / she can a skill on hand to earn a living
