How to Find a Paint Program for Your Mac

You have a lovely mac computer. It is simple and easy to use. However there is one thing missing... a paint program! Fear not there are several free, easy-to-use paint programs out there.

[edit] Steps

  1. Download Tuxpaint. This is a kiddish program, good if you want to learn how to use use the mouse and draw lines and stuff but a bit bad for pro's.

  2. Download Artrage. This program may not be as useful as some, but is fun to play around with.

  3. Download Seashore. This is a Mac version of another paint program called Gimp. It is very functional and useful once you learn how to work it. (Read the instructions!)
  4. Download Pixen. This is another functional and useful program. It seems a bit harder to operate, but slicker.
  5. Download Paintbrush. This is the program that attempts to mimic Microsoft Paint.
  6. Download Appleworks. This is actually a full suite of office programs but it contains a drawing program as well.
  7. Download Beautiful Dorena. Admittedly more interesting than useful, the amazing graphic options and crazy sound effects will keep you entertained for hours on end.

[edit] Tips

  • Always check the system requirements of the program before downloading. To view info about your Mac go to the Apple icon in the top left corner and click "About this Mac".
  • If an application does not work right away try restarting your computer.

[edit] Warnings

  • Many of these programs may not be sufficient for advanced graphics. You may want to consider purchasing Photoshop or PhotoImpression - both are similar programs.
