How to Find out Who You Really Are

No matter how old, people often question what their identity is and how they fit into the social scene around them. This wikiHow will help you discover, and become comfortable with, the person you really are.

[edit] Steps

  1. Follow your gut. What makes you happy? What activities and objects are you attracted to? Don't try to force interest - do the things you love.
  2. Look at the people around you. It's often said that the people you want to associate with are the people that you want to be most like. Who do you hang out with, who do you admire, and who do you detest?
  3. Don't try too hard to fit a certain type. You're trying to be yourself, not a clone of the perfect goth, prep, jock, geek, businessman, or mom.

[edit] Tips

  • One way to help you discover more about yourself is to ask yourself questions. Questions like would I rather.... or ...? Or what would I do if ... ?
  • Remember that even if you don't know everything about yourself it is sometimes great to be pleasantly surprised by just how brillant, strong, and/or unique you are.

[edit] Warnings

  • Don't think about it too hard. You don't need to know exactly who you are in order to live life happily. Do what makes you smile, and you'll discover yourself along the way.
