The SKY pin. It was originally intended to stop kids from watching porn. But some parents go overboard leaving you unable to watch any t.v. at all!

Here's how to deal with it.

The first and most obvious approach is to start at 0000 and work your way up to 9999. Unfortunately this takes a lot of time. It could take a year of typing it in a few times each night to get it (you could be lucky and it could be 0000...you never know).
- If this sounds too hard, there's an easier way (you need sky+ for this)
Record a show (preferably a documentary...more of chance of you being allowed watch it).
Ask your most technologically inept parent can you watch it.
Go into the planner, and go into the program but DON'T CLICK SELECT TO VIEW, leave it at this menu.
Now go to your parent and say "quick, type in the pin now".
- Hopefully, they'll type it in there and then (without selecting "view") and the "viewer defined" box will come up with the first three digits of the pin in it.
At this point, act surprised and say; "there must be something wrong with it", ask for the remote back,press "tv guide" and load into the show again this time pressing select on the "view" option so it asks for the pin. Get your parent to type it in again saying "quick, try it again!" (don't play it cool, try to act impatient as if you really want to watch this show, and you've no other agenda!)
Now all you have to do is guess the last digit of the pin and away you go.
If this doesn't work you could impersonate your parents (if you're still young get an adult (older sibling or friend's older sibling) to do it for you) and ring up sky and pretend you forgot your pin (this is very risky and might not work).

The first thing you do once you know the pin is go into "settings" and then go into "parental options".Type in the pin and then go into "channel restrictions". Now, remove the restrictions on SOME of the channels (don't remove them all because you're parents will find out), don't remove any on the first page (your parents are likely to see this when they go into this menu) and obviously don't remove the restrictions on channels your parents regularly watch. This is a nice little way of making sure you still get to watch t.v if they change the pin.
Now,some parents like to take the remotes!!! no problem! here's what you do!
if you need a remote to get into AV1 or whatever, buy a really cheap universal remote.
Now, you can't type in the pin if you don't have the remote, BUT you can still watch the channels you've unlocked!
If you want to get into the planner just go into "TV Guide" and select "ALL CHANNELS", leave it on this screen,DON'T CLICK ON THE SHOW!!! and press "select" on a show that hasn't started.This should bring you into the planner. (you can use the buttons on the sky box for all this!)
You may want to invest in a few scart leads,power leads ect. (some parents don't take chances!)
If you type in the wrong pin 3 times, turn off the sky box and then turn it straight back on.This saves you having to wait 10 minutes for your next 3 attempts!

Don't change the pin! Your parents can just ring up sky and get it changed back! This could get you in a load of trouble (luckily my parents blamed it on a technical fault :) ).
