How to Fix Broken Images on Translated Articles
Right now, wikiHow does not share its image databases between languages. As a result, images need to be imported from English any time that an article is translated from English to another language. Using this special tool, it is easy to transfer images from the English database to wikiHow in any other language. Follow these simple steps to quickly and easily import images for translated articles.
[edit]Steps
- Translate an article from English.
- Copy file names for images and paste them into the newly translated article exactly as they are written on English. The tool uses this filename to retrieve the article from English. Save your article. The images will now appear as broken (red) links in the article.

- Look under Editing Tools and click on the link for "Fix Broken Images" (Note: This will be translated into an equivalent form that is appropriate for this language version of wikiHow).

- Click on the first image in the list on the special page.

- Make sure that the file for the image is good and the license information is good. The name of the license template (in this case, {{PD Self}}, remains in English.
- Click on the button to upload.

- Repeat this process with all of the other images.
- Return to your article and make sure the images show up properly.

[edit]Tips
- This technique does not just apply to translated articles. You can use this tool to transfer any image from English wikiHow to the other language versions. Just copy the filename from English wikiHow, add it to the article on the other language, and then follow the steps in this article.
- Note that this tool will generate error messages on the page if there are links to images on that page that do not exist in the database on English wikiHow. These error messages do not affect the operation of the tool and can be safely ignored.
[edit] Warnings
- Be sure that the photos you import do have a valid license and have not been nominated for deletion.
