How to Flirt In Sixth Grade
Middle School life is a difficult path that may or may not include boys/girls. Remember to keep calm and follow these simple steps.
[edit] Steps
- Be clean, neat, and organized. This is the first step into a happy life.
- Smile a lot. Even when you are sad, chin up! Don't be too overly perky though, if some one dies, it is okay to cry. If you break your arm that is okay too.
- If (s)he is already your friend, invite him/her to dinner at your house with your family. If you have a pet, try the old classic of: "My --- likes you." presented at the same time with a shy smile while looking steadily into his/her eyes.
- Remember, you can save a relationship until high school. The relationships you have in High School usually last longer, and are more fulfilling. Just be nice and stay friends.
- (Girls) Bat your eyelashes. This is WAY cheesy, but some guys go crazy for it!
- Don't boss him/her around. Be nice!
- (Girls) Ask him to help you carry your books or backpack. This usually works great! Only works if you have a lot of books or whatever. Don't ask him to help if you have small things.
- If you can work up the courage to ask him/her, invite out for ice cream. Movies are okay, but girls will usually think you are proposing to them or something if you start out like this. Go slow! It may take time, but it's worth it.
- Write him/her a note. Fold it all cutely before giving it to him/her, and decorate the outside of it in bright colors. No "I love you"s, just one compliment like "I like your new shoes", "Your socks look nice", "I liked your art project", or even "I don't get this math problem. Will you help?" or something similar. Some guys/girls may think you are weird if you give him a cheesy, decorated note that says something like "What did the teacher say?" or simple things like that.
- Wear cute clothes that are clean and smell good, but don't over do the perfume/cologne. If you don't have a large variety of clothing, ask your friends for hand-me-downs. Swapping clothes at a sleep over swap party is both a blast and productive. It helps the environment, and keeps you looking great! Or at least make sure your clothes are always clean and not wrinkled!
- Get some good clothes. Try American Eagle and Aeropostale, but these are sometimes considered stereotypical for a preppy person and may hurt feelings. Don't forget it's not all about looks. If I guy/girl doesn't like you because you're "ugly," just forget him! It shows how shallow he is.
- Put a love note in his/her locker. It may be cheesy, but sometimes it works!
- Get him/her a gift
- Tell him/her you're doing awful in whatever subject and maybe (s)he could tutor you.
- Talk to him/her! The best way to get to know someone is through conversation. Remember not to ask yes-or-no questions, like "Do you have any pets?" Sometimes, if you carry the conversation on, like "What breed is it?" it is fine. Don't be scared. Gather the courage to talk to him/her. Be yourself.
- Try to hang out with him/her. However, do not come out of the blue and start eating lunch with him. Get to know his/her friends and make sure they are cool with you. Awkwardness and tension does NOT help.
[edit] Tips
- If they ask you out don't be rude and just say you will think about it and talk it over with your friends.
- Don't be too over the top... guys/girls hate that.
- Be yourself, and if you don't know who that is yet, (next line, please)
- Don't sweat it! Just do the things you like to do within reason.
- Be clean. This is coming from a guy, we don't like it when girls aren't smelling their best.
[edit] Warnings
- Don't be someone you aren't. This will hurt you and him/her. If he doesn't like you for who you are, then he's not worth it!
- Some people don't feel comfortable taking gifts, but it always worth a shot.
[edit] Things You'll Need
- Good hygiene. (This means wash and dry your hair every day even if you don't want to. Also keep mint for fresh breath, and brush your teeth!)
- Clean clothes.
- Nice smile.
