Make sure you have wine 0.9.60 or higher installed.
Run winecfg and change the version of windows to Windows 2003.
Change graphics setting to a virtual desktop of 1024x768.
Use wine-doors to install the core fonts.
Install the game as normal.
Run regedit and add the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D\VideoMemorySize and set it to the size in megabytes of your video memory. Export the key to ~/.wine/user.reg .
Run the game from autorun.exe on the DVD.

[edit] Tips

The mouse is invisible, but by running the game in a window, you can track the mouse by moving it outside the screen.
A blank white window will pop up, the EA Registy window. It does not work under wine and should be killed with: killall EReg.exe .
