How to Get Rid of Solicitors

description

Just like you, a solicitor has a job. They usually go door-to-door trying to offer or sell you a product and ask you for donations. Sometimes, it gets really annoying, especially when you're busy doing something else. Here's a How-to on politely declining or preventing solicitors.

[edit] Steps

  1. When a solicitor comes to the door, they'll usually tell you who they are and where they are from. If you're not interested, just simply say 'No thank you, I'm not interested.'
  2. Know that if you're in the midst of doing something, and cannot stop, you can ignore the doorbell and pretend you're not home or can't hear the doorbell. If you're busy and you do answer the door, tell them you're busy and not interested or tell them you're busy and to come back later.
  3. Put up an easy to read sign on your front door or porch saying, 'No Solicitors'. It's easy, straight to the point, and gets rid of any distractions.
  4. Install peep-holes. If you don't recognize the person, then don't open the door. Or, ask the through the chain what they want. Be polite though!

[edit] Tips

  • When declining a solicitor, be firm yet polite. Simply say 'No thank you' and if they keep on insisting, tell them again 'No thank you, I have to go.'
  • Remember to look out the peep-hole or window in case it might be someone you know.

[edit] Warnings

  • Lock your door after answering the Solicitor, these guys can very persistant to the point of walking into your home to convince you to buy their product!
  • If you know you're expecting a package or a service person, be sure to check the peep-hole or window and not ignore the door.
  • If the solicitor keeps ringing the doorbell, knocking at the door, or tries to force their way into your home and is harassing you, call the local authorties.
