How to Get Your Boyfriend to Read

Some guys don't particularly enjoy reading in general. To them it's associated with "boring". Is your boyfriend one of them? Do you like to read and want him to try it as well? Here are some tips for passing on your hobby to him.

[edit] Steps

Before you dive in, Take it slowly. Start with a magazine.

  1. Find a book that appeals to most people. If it's popular among a variety, its gotta be good! Current example: Twilight series!
  2. Complement his reading occasionally. Things like "You look so sexy curled up in bed with a book!" or "Wow, you read fast!" will be encouraging.
  3. Keep mysterious. Give him just enough optimism but leave out the details. Don't tell him what it's about. He'll be more likely to read it just to see what all the fuss is about.
  4. Explain why it's important to you, but be careful. If you tell him you want to share interests with each other; well, be ready to take him up on one of his offers too!
  5. Find out what he likes. If he finishes one and likes it, ask what was so interesting. Find a similar book by the same author if possible.
  6. Make it a date. Set aside a day to visit the library and "sample read." Have him read a couple of pages of a selection of books and decide which ones he wants to check out.
  7. Take him to the romance novels. That's something he can not refuse! Try to get him one that's from the guy's perspective in the story.
  8. Make a deal with him. (You can see the movie after you read the book! - gives him incentive to try).
  9. Read along with him - even if you don't like it. As you go along you can have discussions over dinner.
