Ever have trouble getting your children up on weekends? Have they been late for school because they refuse to get out of bed? If so, keep reading!

Set an alarm clock. It should have a noticeable ring, but not deafening. Set it for the time they need to get up and put it by their bed.
Shake them a bit and say "rise and shine" "time to get up" or something like that. Use their name and mention some thing specific that is going to happen that day like a test in a particular class.
Turn on a television or a radio loud enough that the talk will interrupt their sleep (but not so loud that its going to hurt their ears or annoy the neighbors).
Flick the lights on and off a few times (maybe even to the tune of a song).
Pull the cover off of them.
Push them out of bed, gently.
Say "breakfast is on the table." Warning: don't say this if it isn't true.
Dress them, and lead them to the table.
Say: "If you get back in bed your going to miss the bus, and I wont drive you if you do." From the looks of, it they're already tired as it is and probably won't want to walk or ride their bike. If THAT doesn't get them up and ready for school,nothing will.

You shouldn't do the covers thing if its really cold.
Make sure school isn't closed before you wake them up.
If they want to go back to sleep when they come home, let them. They had a hard day.

Never wake them up before they need to be up. Children need 8-10 hours of sleep every night.
Don't pull the covers off your child without his permission if you are trying to teach him respect for others. This is very bad behavior to model for your children.
When pushing them out of bed, ask permission and gently push them, don't shove.
Don't flicker the lights on and off if your child has a vision problem. It may damage their eyes further.
