How to Get Your Gadgets in Order
Every teen likes to have the latest gadget and gizmo, but the cords and wires can become tangled and lost. It takes a little bit of time to organize your electronics, but its worth it.
[edit] Steps
- Figure out what you actually need. Do you really need that Walkman now that you have an iPod? Donate any unwanted items to charity.
- Group each gadget and its accessory in a separate area. For example, put your iPod, headphones, and charger together.
- Put all seldom-used wires e.g., your camera charger, extra USB cords, in plastic ziplock bags. Label them. Put these bags in a shoebox or other container.
- Wrap frequently-used cords around the item you use it with. You always use headphones with your Mp3 player, right? So those should always be together.
- Choose one electrical outlet you will use anytime you have something (cell phone, camera) to charge.
- Place a small basket near the outlet. Keep all of your loose gadgets here.
- Also place your shoebox full of wires close by. When its time to locate them, you know that they will be with their fellow electronics.
[edit] Tips
- Decide if there's anything you need to help the electronics run better. Do you need a cord to connect your video camera to your computer, or new headphones for your iPod? Put those on your shopping list.
- Try to keep everything in good working order. Whats the use of buying something expensive just to let the puppy chew on it?
[edit] Warnings
- Don't put your electronics anywhere they could be damaged e.g., near water, low to the ground (hazard of being stepped on), or in direct sunlight.
