How to Get Yourself a Reputation

Tired of sitting in the back of the class, being just another face in the crowd? This guide is for you, written by people who were once wallflowers and now have a reputation, whatever it may be.

[edit] Steps

  1. First, decide what you want to be known for.
  2. NEVER choose a reputation which isn't you. Don't try to come across as a prep if you can't stand being around Paris Hilton clones.
  3. Decide what you need to improve your reputation. It is easier to get a reputation if you are already good at what you are working at (like being known as the smart kid).
  4. Once you know what you need to do, do it. DO NOT suddenly come to school changed. People will just ask what you're on.
  5. DO NOT talk to people about your new reputation habits, unless they ask you about it first.
  6. Act like you already have a reputation, and do things to back this up.

[edit] Tips

  • Know how to get people's attention. If you want to have a reputation that involves being outgoing, be friendly, not at all shy.
  • Don't bring up the things you do to get your reputation. For example, if you want to be a 'smart kid', don't talk all the time about how many books you read or computers you hacked. You will get a reputation as a nerd or geek. Likewise, if you want to be a rebel, and you talk all the time about the cars you stole and signs you tagged, people will just call you stupid.
  • Act like you don't care about your reputation, or that you think it's cute people see you that way. Try not to come across as lofty or patronizing, though.
  • If people compliment you on something you did to get your reputation, don't blow it off. Just say thanks. If you think they are messing with you, say your parole officer is waiting in the office (no matter what reputation you are looking for) and walk away.

[edit] Warnings

  • Don't get known as a snitch. Trust me...
  • Don't try out too many, otherwise you'll have a reputation for something else, something you don't want to be known for.
  • A reputation isn't always good, and sometimes you'll get reputations you don't want.
  • It may take YEARS to get rid of a reputation. Be careful about what you want to be known as.
