How to Get a Free Car if You Are Disabled
For those who are disabled, a vehicle can be hard to come by. It takes money to buy one, and if you have been disabled for a long time, you may not have that kind of money. There are, however, some places you can go to obtain a donated car.
[edit] Steps
- Talk to your local church, especially if you are a member. Some people will donate if they know it's a tax write off, but it must be done through a non-profit, or not-for-profit organization. Explain your situation, and see if they can help.
- Go through any of the organizations that are for your particular disability and see if there are any programs to help you. Don't take your first no as an answer. The person you talk to might not be aware of the existing programs.Check their website. If it's not free, they may have a low cost program, or a payment program with little or no interest.
- Go to Craiglist.org and see if you can trade your way up to it. You've heard of the guy with the red paper clip who wants a house? Stranger things have happened.
- Talk directly to car dealerships. Worst they can say is no. Then you are simply back to where you started from. But if you already have a church or organization in place to help with the transaction, some of the members might be Car dealership Owners. Think about it.It makes sense.
[edit] Tips
- When talking with people on the phone, ALWAYS BE NICE! Thank them for their time, and follow up with a thank you note. They may keep it, and if they DO hear anything, they'll let you know.
