How to Get a Really Awesome Tattoo
Ever walk around during summertime and realize how stupid most people's tattoos are? 80% of most tattoos out there are common and/or stupid. However there is a way to avoind getting a stupid and/or common tattoo.
[edit] Steps
- Figure out what style tattoo you want, like Traditional, Traditional Japanese, Flash, Horror, Floral, Grey-Wash, tribal.
- Get an idea of what you may want and get an artist friend to draw it up. Also you could print something off the internet. Look in lots of tattoo mags like Savage, Flash, Tattoo International.
- Once you've selected an image that is similar to what you may want, put it on your fridge or bedroom mirror for a couple of months, then, if you're not sick of it and have not changed your mind, find your artist.
- Finding the right artist is actually half the battle, you have to research research research!!! Go on many websites, look at portfolios, go to different shops, also if you do see a cool tat on someone, ask them where they went then look that shop up.
- Now you have the image you want something like, you have your artist, now you need to create your tattoo and select your body location. Selecting these things at the same time is key because some images dont work in certain areas. You tattoo artist (if they're good) will elaborate.
- Now you should have the artist change your image into your own tattoo, something nobody has. They should have also placed it in a spot that enhances your image, makes it pop.
- You have now gotten your awesome tattoo that will only stay awesome if you take care of it right. There area many theories on how to heal a tattoo but The 1st two days wash the tat with anti-bacterial soap then apply A&D ointment 3 times a day, wrap at night only. Next two day continue to apply A&D but do not Wrap. From then on apply only non-scented lotion until fully healed. No scabs no problem!
[edit] Tips
- Remember this quote: "Good tattoos aren't cheap and cheap tattoos aren't good."
- Most good artists charge by the hour, not by the piece.
- Never let an artist get too much say in what you get. It is your body, not their canvas. If you love it, get it!
- Pick wisely: a tattoo is permanent, so don't rush it.
- Pain is only temporary.
- Tipping your artist is wise; that is how they make their money.
- Make sure the artist's station is clean; otherwise, you may risk infection.
[edit] Warnings
- If the artist doesn't change the needle when he gets started with you just get up and go.
- Make sure if hey touch anything outside the station they change the gloves.
