How to Get Out of Your School Dress Code
While school dress codes were originally meant to be beneficial to the student, they often seem stupid and unnecessary. Here's how to get around those pesky dress code rules.
[edit] Steps
- Claim an injury. Wrap the area of your body in question with a bulky ace bandage. If you don't want to wear a shirt with sleeves, say that your shoulder is injured. If you want to wear shorts, tell your teachers that your thigh is sensitive.
- Tell teachers that your previous clothing was ripped/stained/ruined. For example, if you are caught wearing a tank top, tell your teachers that you were wearing a long sleeve shirt over the tank top, but the shirt became torn.
- Act innocent. Tell anyone that questions your clothes that you weren't aware of the rules. If they don't know you well, you can claim that you're a new student.
- Fight for your first amendment rights. The first amendment gives you the right to free speech, and what you wear is part of free speech.
- Explain that it will never happen again (even if you don't mean it). Tell people about to discipline you that you've had a rough day or week and you temporarily forgot the dress code.
- Start crying. Not only will you look innocent, teachers are also more likely to pity you.
- Try wearing sweats or a sweatshirt over any offending clothing while you are in class. Most schools don't care what kids wear during lunch or while changing classes.
[edit] Tips
- Remind school administrators that "Students carry their rights with them when they enter school gates". This is a famous quote from the Tinker vs. Des Moines case, in which teenagers went to court with their school over the dress code.
- A good defense can often be a good offense while in school. School officials will automatically give you a suspension if you try to argue with them.
