How to Get Out of a Stereotype
Are you annoyed at people calling you "chav", "emo", "goth", or "prep" etc.? This article will help you get out of that sterotype.
[edit] Steps
- Decide on what they call you. Let's say you are called a Prep. You want to change that because you are not a Prep. You don't want to be a prep.
- Next, think about why they call you a Prep. Do you act like one, do you dress like one or do you talk like one? Decide on what it is and start looking at ways to change it.
- Next, start wearing things that Preps would not. Do not look at just what they wouldn't wear, always wear what you want. Don't just wear black because Preps don't wear black. That's needless and will make you just look like a poser. Wear what you think is cool.
- Finally look at your friend's and decide what they have to do with it. You might be amazed. They could be the ones that make you seem like a Prep. Don't get rid of your friends but maybe help them get out of the stereotype too or, make some different kinds of friends as well. Make friends from the band, the acting group as well as honour roll kids and cheerleaders. Just mix with everyone.
[edit] Tips
- Stop caring about what other people think about you.
- Please don't go around making fun of the stereotype you are called. That's stupid.
- Mix your personal style with some elements of style from other stereotypes.
[edit] Warnings
- Make sure that in un-stereotyping yourself, you don't accidentally fall into another group where you become classified as a stereotype again.
- Others may make fun of you.
- If your friends make you a stereotype, and you break away from it, you may lose your friends.
