Here are some tips for getting over being put down.

[edit] Steps

  1. Tell other people how you feel including teachers, family and friends.
  2. Try and speak in person - if not, try and get an IM program and speak about it on there.
  3. Get advice from those you trust. Talk with your parents, friends, teachers, pastors, counselors etc. Follow their advice. They will also try and help build you up.
  4. Focus on what you are good at. Put effort into what you know you are good at already. Build confidence in knowing you are good at the particular thing.
  5. Change. This will be the hardest step. Listen closely to how people put you down and what things they are targeting. After you have identified the issues people put you down over, analyze them and decide if you need to change that aspect of your life.
  6. Accepting that you are not perfect. Do not worry about the put downs you can't do anything about. e.g. If someone puts you down for balding, there is nothing that can be done about it, so do not worry about it. Accept yourself for who you are.
  7. After you have followed these steps, time to enter, a new changed world!

[edit] Tips

  • Do not seek out compliments. Most people get annoyed with constant questioning if they know you are fishing for compliments. This will only repel people and make it easier for them to put you down.
  • Watch what you say and who you say it around. If you watch your mouth people can not make fun of you for what you say. The age old saying is true, "Better to be thought a fool, then open your mouth and remove all doubt".

[edit] Warnings

  • Some people could get annoyed if you go on, and on, and on
  • If you say it in person, go to a quiet place
  • If they hang around with a number of people, politely go up and say 'May I speak to ___________'

[edit] Things You'll Need

  • IM Program (Optional)
  • Friends, teachers, or any trustworthy person.
