How to Get the Puppies from the Mother

Excited and socialized pups!
Excited and socialized pups!

Puppies need to have human interaction to socialize. To have them socialized at an early age, you need to ask the mother dog first.

[edit] Steps

  1. "Ask" the mother if you can take the pups. Stroke their fur, pet her, and slowly pick one up or move it closer to you.
  2. Give the mother a treat for being a good girl.
  3. Talk to the puppy calmly. Show the mother that you will not harm the puppy. Cuddle it, snuggle it, love it. Praise the mother.
  4. Do this for about a minute with the pup, then move on to the next. The mother will know you are not a threat and will let you see the pups again.
  5. Praise and treat the mother, and walk away slowly. To get the mother to keep trusting you, you can do this more than once a day.

[edit] Tips

  • Softly talk to the mother and the pups. This will calm both of them.

[edit] Warnings

  • If the mother shows aggression towards you, only pet the pups. Little by little, day by day, gain her trust to let you pick them up. Don't pick them up without her "permission", she will never trust you.
