Searches on Google often return millions of results, but no one has the time to go through all of them! How do you get the best results? Read on.

[edit] Steps

  1. Make sure that you understand the topic you are looking up.
  2. Write down a list of keywords that you have heard about the subject, if possible.
  3. Try and be as specific as possible, but don't be down to the VERY last detail.
  4. Searching for pictures is always a good way to discover keywords. Also think about news, music clips, and maps.
  5. Search and click enter, this goes through the system so much faster.
  6. Look over your results and if they aren't what you wanted, repeat.

[edit] Tips

  • Keep your subject narrowed to about 8 words max.
  • Don't put only one word if possible.
  • Add quotations around words to find exact matches (for example you search "auto insurance" it will look for the words together instead if looking for auto and insurance separately.)
  • Visit www.viewzi.com: this site is a highly visual and very different way to search the web. Rather than throw millions of results at you in a big list, each search delivers a list of ”views”—each containing a different mix of presentation + results.

[edit] Warnings

  • If you don't follow these directions, you may find that you'll be looking up stuff for longer than you need too.
