How to Get to a Higher Place Without the Need for Religion
Religion is not the only way to get to a higher place (or feel good about oneself). Drugs (illegal and not) are frequently not the answer either. Here are some ways to improve yourself spiritually.

- Clear your mind. Do not have a schedule or plans set. The less one has to do, the more one will be in a relaxed state.
- Think of simple problems. Easy mathematical problems or philosophical ideas are good.
- Once your mind starts turning its wheels, think of things that you would enjoy learning - simple things that are easy enough to obtain.
- Being a better person does not necessarily mean being religious. Try and be a moral and ethical person no matter what your beliefs on religion and spirituality are. Think about this while you sit and breathe.
- Deep breathing from the stomach is very beneficial.
- Relaxing the body fully, by tightening muscles and then relaxing them helps maintain good breathing control.
- Let the mind wander where it will and if you find yourself thinking thoughts, bring yourself back to seeing a colour.
- Concentrating on one colour at a time makes the mind tighten and then relax itself.
- If you feel uncomfortable and force yourself to stay still, this is not going to be a good session. Try again later.
- Having a healthy diet is also necessary to fully experiencing feelings of happiness and fulfillment, so learn about nutrition facts and your desired body weight.

- Try to have eaten something about an hour earlier and even have a short sleep.
- Study ethics and morality.
- Practice breathing exercises while doing everyday activities.
- It is always best not to take in any substance which can alter your mind.
- Learning to relax and breathe properly will take you up spiritually. Make yourself feel good under your own steam.
