Read a good book. If you like it, you'll not want to put it down. Reading is a very good way to pass time.
Call a few friends on a cell phone. Be sure you don't run over your minutes.
Bring lunch if you stay for a while. You might get hungry!
Bring money with you if the parent works at a shop. You might be able to buy a little something. Maybe even with a family discount.
Play a handheld video game.
Draw. Draw the scenery, a portrait, even a random little cartoon.
If you have a laptop, bring it along with you! (Go on wikiHow and catch up on everything!)

Be quiet when talk to friends or move into a close but separate room.
For the laptop, bring it in a laptop case.
Set the ring on your phone on vibrate to avoid bothering the workers.
