How to Look Nice for Your First Day of School
This article is mostly for middle school, the first year to be exact. The impression you make on the first day of school can make or break your year, based on what the other kids think of you, what your teacher thinks of you, and whether or not you will make friends. It sounds very shallow, but kids like to hang out with better groomed people. Here are ways to look neat and professional.
[edit] Steps
- Two weeks before the school term arrives, make sure to get to bed earlier, to get in to a good sleeping pattern. And try exercising 3-4 times a week. You'll look and feel better.
- Go to bed early the day before so that you don't have big bags under your eyes. If you are a night-owl and stay up past midnight, train yourself a week before the first day to go to bed earlier, so it becomes a habit.
- Take a shower (not a bath) the night before. You want to be clean and nice smelling, but dripping wet hair looks unattractive. Wash your hair twice, and scrub well, but not so hard it hurts. That will leave a mark on your skin. Try scented soap or body wash. OR. You could wake up EARLY. :O and take a shower before school starts and get it dried before you get to school.
- Lay out your clothes the night before, put them on the hanger not folded, so that you will have more time in the morning. Pick out a clean, flat shirt (complying with the school dress code, of course) and a nice pair of pants or a skirt. Don't wear baggy or super short bottoms, they look trashy. Keep them clean, and don't try the clothes on a million times. Lay out your socks and shoes, and don't wear a grungy pair of sneakers; make sure your shoes are clean. Socks aren't important, but make sure they go with your outfit and comply with school's dress code.
- Eat a good breakfast so you'll have plenty of energy throughout the day. Wash your face and brush your teeth afterwards.
- Get dressed before your comb your hair. Then, run a good brush or comb through your hair several times until it looks neat and flat. Boys, don't spike you hair, at least not today. Undo your braids, girls, and lightly brush your hair if you would like it to be wavy or curly. Style your hair, being sure not to load on the gel.
- Put on your socks and shoes.
- Put on your backpack, which should already be ready.
- Go to school and introduce yourself! Don't be so nice that everyone thinks you are really weird.
[edit] Tips
- Get all you stuff ready the night before so you don't have to be on a hurry on the morning of the First Day of School.
- Don't wear too much much makeup. Be natural. Save the sparkles and eyeliner for parties and dances.
[edit] Warnings
- Don't try too hard, especially if you're not prepared to look and act like you did on the first day for the rest of the year.
- Don't get too stressed because it might affect your impression.
