How to Look Rich Without Being Rich (for Teens)
Most people want to look well-off, but in today's society, the high cost of living has made that goal more difficult to achieve. However, it can be done.
[edit] Steps
- Buy well made clothes, preferably with a recognizable label. Look at outlet stores and TJ Maxx for deals on normally expensive clothes. Try to focus more on quality rather than quantity.
- Accessorize. Buy jewelry that looks like silver or gold. You can find inexpensive but rich looking jewelry everywhere-even WalMart. Never buy plastic or wooden accessories.
- Buy one pair of shoes to go with your wardrobe. Ballet flats are very classy looking, without costing too much. Your everyday shoe should be brown, gray or black-these colors will match almost anything in your closet. Never use sneakers as your everyday shoe.
- Make sure you are always clean and well-groomed. This means having neat hair, whether it is styled or down, a clean face with light amounts of makeup. Keep your nails short and clean. It is a bonus to smell nice as well.
- Carry yourself proudly and show confidence, be calm and soft-spoken, and take the time to add new words to your vocabulary.
- Becoming an educated young person is often the first stepping stone to looking rich and becoming rich later. Do well in school and aim to go to college.
- Keep your house clean, especially when people come over. Keep everything in its place. Make sure that your house gets vacuumed at least once a week and dusted every two weeks. Even if your house isn't the Ritz, it will still look richer after a good cleaning.
- Play sports and stay in shape. Wealthy people tend to be thin and in shape. You will feel better and your clothes will fit better.
[edit] Tips
- Invest in good makeup and tools. Eye shadows, liners, concealers, and tools are all your money well spent. Designer name lip glosses are unnecessary and overpriced. Mascara quality is the same, expensive and cheap, and only lasts 3 months anyways. Remember most wealthy girls don't wear alot of makeup.
- Designer athletic clothing is a very good investment. Because athletic clothing doesn't stain or wrinkle easily, doesn't go out of style, and hints that you workout or do sports.
- The "preppy" look tends to hint at wealth.
- Make sure your hair looks nice by brushing it everyday and using all around good grooming techniques. People who look wholesome and clean also look rich. Don't color your hair. Keep it clean and natural.
- A classic hairstyle will almost guarantee that you look upper class. Don't cut it in a trendy style.
- If you decide to do your nails, do them well and with care or get a manicure. Never attempt feet; always get a pedicure.
- Get your hair professionally done; never dye your own hair.
- If you happen to have a school with uniforms, do not wear old faded, damaged uniforms.. buy a new set!
- Act intelligent.
- Make sure your teeth are clean and white.
[edit] Warnings
- Never lie about how much money your family has. Just don't talk about money. If someone asks you a question about money, try to change the subject without being obvious. Never brag about things you have. It shows no class.
- If you buy from a store's outlet, and someone asks you where you got an item from, tell them the truth. Lying is usually pretty obvious.
- Don't spend all of your money trying to look "rich". There are more important things in life than social class.
