How to Care for a Teddy Bear

Teddy Bears need special attention. They need to be loved and taken care of. They have to be kept clean, and not put on the floor for anyone to step on. The care of the Teddy Bear is now your responsibility.

[edit] Steps

  1. Make sure you do not toss your Teddy Bear on the floor when you make your bed. When you go to school, lay the bear on top of your bed. Make sure the bear had breakfast with you.
  2. Remember, if it is very cold out, put a warm hat and sweater on your Teddy Bear if you are taking him out with you. On very hot days, go to the Build a Bear store and buy sunglasses and a sun hat. The Dollar store is also a good place to get sunglasses for your Teddy. Also buy a sun suit for the bear. Take it with you wherever you go, if you have permission to do so.
  3. Sleep with your Teddy and put pajamas on him. Wash his hands and face before he goes to sleep, but do not use water. Just use a wash rag because you do not want to ruin the bear. If they are sad talk to them and calm them down.
  4. Learn things that make them afraid. Do not take them with you if you go rock climbing or to the beach. Let the person who is with you care for them. If you take them on an airplane make sure they wear a seat belt or hold them closely on your lap.
  5. Sit them on the back seat when you take them in the car. If you have another teddy bring that one along also to keep him company.
  6. Don't hang your teddy by the neck; if he has to be suspended make sure he is in a proper harness
  7. Always bring your teddy bear's special stuff along on ANY trip. Make sure you bring any medicine that he or she may need. Here are some ideas for when packing you're bears special stuff bag. Medicine is essential, and you could pack a book or two, plasters, waterbottle, sunglasses, its your choice. You can easily put all this stuff in a plastic bag, or buy your bear a handbag from build a bear workshop.
  8. If your teddy bear has a rip or tear, bandage it right away using a Band-aid or two. For large tears, use a cloth or gauze pad. Create a "hospital bed" for your bear to rest on until you can stitch him or her up. If you don't know how, ask a friend or family member to help you, so you don't hurt your teddy bear or yourself in any way.
  9. Teddy bears tend to get sick during the winter if they are not dressed properly. If your teddy gets sick, tuck him in bed and put a movie on for him. Only PG or G movies though, PG-13 or R is not appropriate for them. If possible, give them a bell to ring when they need you. Pretend to feed them soup.
  10. Name your teddy with something it has to do with his name. If he is brown, try Cocoa or Mocha. If he has a bow with polka dots, maybe Dot or Dots. Or just a name you like!
  11. Tell your Teddy about his family! Teddy Bear's love learning about their relatives and ancestors.
