How to Make Boiled Rice
Boiled rice may have gone out of fashion, but this method of cooking rice may prevent scorching, as it is cooked like pasta. The following recipe is from Woman's Institute Library of Cookery, Vol. 1.
[edit] Steps
- Rinse the rice carefully. (Rinsing is probably not needed but the recipe calls for this step)
- Add the rice to boiling and salted water.
- Boil until the the water begins to look milky and a grain of rice can be crushed easily between the fingers.
- Drain the rice in a colander and serve.
- Serve with hot gravy, butter. For a sweet dish serve with milk or cream and sugar.
