How to Make Bubble Tea

Bubble tea is basically like a smoothie or juice with boba (tapioca pearls) or jellies (lychee) in it. It is really delicious.

[edit] Steps

  1. Buy juice (any flavor) and a blender if you don't have one. Get ice too. Alternately (and more commonly) a type of Black Tea is used; standard Lipton tea works fine.
  2. Go to an Asian market (most likely to have the items needed) nearby and buy tapioca pearls and lychee (you can ask the salesperson first to see if they have it).
  3. Combine the ice and juice in the blender until smooth. If you're using tea instead of juice:
    • Prepare the tea as directed on the packaging.
    • Chill the tea if you have time; this drink is intended to be served at a fridge-like temperature
    • Add sugar, milk and some ice, to taste. Often condensed milk is used in place of milk and sugar. Non-dairy products may also be used.
    • Don't forget to stir!
  1. Follow the instructions on the package for the 'boba'. Usually it says something about boiling them. You may also want to skin and chop the lychee. Chop the lychee up into either squares or rectangles.
  2. If you used tea: Add the boba to the tea. Lychee is not commonly used with black teas.
  3. If you used juice: Put the boba in the cup along with the lychee squares/rectangles. Stir them together. Add the juice with ice blended in and voilĂ ! You have a bubble tea! Now that you are done, you may enjoy using a spoon or fat straw.

[edit] Tips

  • Do not freeze the drink for later. It will be harder than a rock. Do not refrigerate it either or it'll melt.
  • Serving bubble tea as a drink at a party or when you are hanging out is a great idea! If they don't like the boba and jellies, just leave some plain ones out!

[edit] Warnings

  • If you drink it too quickly, you'll get a brain freeze!
  • Or if you drink\eat it too fast then you might choke!
  • Slushie-like, juice-based bubble tea must be consumed quicker than the normal tea-based variety, otherwise the "bubbles" may harden and be nearly impossible to suck up through the straw or to chew. Could be a choking hazard.
