How to Make Chili Con Carne

Here's an old family recipe that is sure to please.

  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt & pepper (to taste)
  • 3 tablespoons chili sauce (to taste)
  • 1 medium chopped onion (1/3 cup onion flakes)
  • 1 8 oz.can tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp cilantro

  1. Pork in hot oil, stirring until meat loses its pink color.
  2. Add salt and pepper
  3. Then add onions and cilantro
  4. Add the mixture of 'el pato' sauce mix well. Cover.
  5. Simmer 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Eat and Enjoy

  • Serves 4. Double or triple recipe according to number of servings desired. Some of us like to sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  • Experiment with the recipe. Add chopped bell peppers, jalapeno peppers, habanaro peppers, etc. to your liking. Try adding other spices and seasonings - brown sugar, beer, oregano, lime juice, ginger, etc.
  • If making chili for a large group, tone down the heat.
