How to Make Friends While Homeschooled
Being homeschooled can severely affect a child's teen years, both in relationships, and out in the real world. A teen who is coming out of homeschooling for college or high school may go into school, and set off a reputation as an awkward person, and that can damage them for their entire life. So, lets say you've recently moved to whateverville, and left all your old friends behind at your previous location; worst off, you find out that you're going to continue being homeschooled, or are going to be homeschooled, it's going to be very hard to make friends--especially if your parents limit you to a small area of the town, like, lets say, only the street you live on. You need to know how to make friends, so, here are a few tips on how to do so.
[edit] Steps
- Don't ever lie to anyone about your name or age.
- Try not to use jokes that only people off the internet will understand, this will ultimately blow your chance with that person.
- Try to get out as much as you can.
- Join clubs for things you are interested in, like a singing group, scouts or even a homeschool group for other homeschoolers in the area.
- If your parents don't let you leave the house when they're gone or out of town, then try to have a seat and talk with them. Try to beg to go to Highschool, if thats what you want.
- If that doesn't work, talk with them about expanding your horizon, more freedom, and whatnot.
- If that fails as well, then just totally rebel and sneak out.
- Try not to be overly funny, don't try to fit in, just be yourself.
- Don't try to dress like everyone else, dress the way you like to dress. (Note the above, be yourself.)
[edit] Warnings
- About the sneaking out thing, try not to visit anyone who will blow your cover, or you're screwed in.
