How to Make Hot Root Soup

Hotroot Soup is from the Redwall series, and probably one of the spiciest seen. Try it out, it's good!


[edit] Ingredients

  • Vegetable broth
  • 1 large red onion
  • 1/2 pound cooked/peeled small shrimp (1/2 pound of chicken if you have seafood allergies)
  • 3 small new potatoes
  • Cayenne chili peppers (spiciness depends on this)
  • 2 tablespoons of garlic, minced
  • Bay leaf
  • 1 leek

  1. Prepare the vegetables, cutting however you like, start to boil vegetable broth.
  2. Put all the ingredients in the broth once it starts to boil.
  3. Lower heat until bairly boiling, just small bubbles.
  4. Stir every 10 minutes.
  5. Boil until tender, it should be around 40 minutes (it may vary).

  • Try different things, differnet veggies, different meat, and so on.
  • This recipe is even better with parsley bread.


[edit] Warnings

  • Boiling water, put ingredients in slowly, as to not splash the '250 degree water.
  • This contains seafood, shrimp, so if you have allergies prepare the version with chicken.
