How to Make Jeans Longer
Are your favorite jeans starting to get small? Or do you just want to make a current pair longer for whatever reason? With this guide, I'm sure you can achieve it.
[edit] Steps
- Wash the jeans.
- Take them out of the washer, and do NOT put them in the dryer. Instead, hang them on a pants hanger. While they are hanging, pull down on the pant leg while wet. This will cause them to stretch. Do this as much as you feel is necessary.
- Continue to let them hang until they are completely dry.
- Once they are dry, wear them!
- Don't have time for this? Need to stretch in a hurry? Depending on jeans material, this instant stretch trick may work. 1) Grab jeans at a point along bottom hem of one pant leg in one hand and opposite point on waist band in other hand; 2) Step on pant leg (in stocking feet) midway between points in your hands; 3) Pull hard with hands while pressing with foot to spread jeans fibers along pant leg; 4) Move hand positions a few inches along bottom hem and waist band and repeat procedure; 5) Continue all the way around pant leg; 6) Then repeat procedure for other leg.
[edit] Tips
- You may have to repeat the stretching numerous times to get the length you desire.
- Do not dry the jeans in the dryer at all. Only hang dry them to keep them the length you want.
- You do not have to do this every time you wash the jeans.
- You can also stretch the jeans a bit more by applying pressure with a hot iron going down the leg to the bottom.
[edit] Warnings
- Drying the jeans and then stretching them, will do hardly any good.
- Do not dry jeans in the dryer as they will shrink.
