How to Make Realistic Cobwebs

With an industrial strength hot glue gun and an air compressor, you can quickly fill a room with realistic cobwebs. This trick comes straight from the special effects houses in Hollywood.

[edit] Steps

  1. Heat an industrial strength quick melt hot glue gun. These are the large guns with large glue sticks. You have to find them in specialized hardware stores. Your local craft store usually does not have them.
  2. Turn on an air compressor that is fitted with a simple press-and-blow dusting tip.
  3. Hold the air tip almost touching the spot where hot glue will come out of the gun. Press the air while squeezing the hot glue.
  4. Aim at places in the room!

[edit] Tips

  • If you're really crafty, you can rig up a more permanent single-handed gun. In a simple case, you can just hold the hot glue gun in one hand and the air tip in another. I've seen people rig the two together to make a single handed web shooter.

[edit] Warnings

  • Be safe. Hot melt glue is extremely hot!
