How to Never Say the Wrong Thing (in All Forms of Communication)

On occasion, we'll all make rude comments without even meaning to. This wiki will show how to avoid these mishaps.

[edit] Steps

[edit] In Person

  1. Think before you speak. Even if the comment you are about to make is funny, will it be at the expense of someone else?
  2. Consider your audience. If you're among close friends, it might be okay, but among business associates, it's a different story.

[edit] In a Note/Letter/Email

  1. Write the note in advance (save emails in draft folder).
  2. Think about the things you feel may be controversial then rewrite it so that you won't have any regrets.

[edit] On Instant Message

  1. Type what you want to say, then read it to yourself.
  2. Decide if it's really saying what you want to say...then either erase or send.

[edit] Tips

  • Think of what you are going to say before you say it

[edit] Warnings

  • Some people may be upset by what you say even after you've thought it over; you can't win them all.
