How to Organize a Family Fun Night
Family Fun Nights is the name set aside for one evening, preferably a weekend evening, when families can get together and just have fun! Scrabble is one of the best games to play with the family, and is a great game to have handy. Here are some tips to help you arrange a night the whole family will want to do again and again.
[edit] Steps
- See if anyone in your family has plans or will be away when you have your fun night. Remember, this is a family fun night!
- Know who will be there, inform everyone on the date and time of the fun night. You may also want to put together a cute and creative invitation to distribute to family members if you are a child.
- Pick a nice cozy spot and enhance the room! If there's a fireplace, turn it on! If there's a stereo, pop in an exciting music CD to enhance your activity.
- Now, the most important step - choose the activity! It could be a board game, a movie, a game of pool, a video game tournament children vs. parents, even a simple game of Charades!
- Don't forget the snacks! Grab some popcorn, chips, pretzels, gummy worms, juice, etc.
- When you are done with the activity, have another round (if your time allows) or set up a date for another Family Fun Night!
[edit] Tips
- Play age-appropriate games. Teens will get bored playing with a Dora the Explorer game while a little kid may not exactly enjoy watching her older brothers playing a teen-rated battle game on their Playstation.
- Prepare a special dish just for the party! Whether it's Laffy Taffys, sundaes, or even vegetables with dip, bring something out for the whole family to munch on along with the other goodies.
- Don't make the fun night last too long. You'll be exhausted the next day.
- Have fun!
- If somebody in your family doesn't like board games and you are planning on playing one, form teams so that the person doesn't suffer.
