How to Sandbox
This is the beginning of the sandbox. You can use this page
to practice editing pages here on wikiHow. Edit it freely, but
please leave this boilerplate message in place. ![]()
[edit] Steps
- -Draw a plan of what you would like the area to look like (i.e. a "blueprint")
- -Clean the building area by removing twigs, rocks, and so on.
- -Mow the area so the sandbox will have a nice, even area to lay on
- -Start by laying a flat piece of wood for the base. Make this the size that you wish your sandbox to be.
- -Nail the base to the ground.
- -Add boards all around the base in an upward position. Seal this down with wood glue, or another tough glue, such as Gorilla Glue.
- -Pour bags of sand in the box. NOTE-- Make sure the boards have gotten nice and dried before doing this step
- -Even out the sand and you're done!
[edit] Tips
- Make sure that the base that you are laying your board on is even itself-- a no no is one that is slanted, such as a hill.
- Clean the sand throughly often, such as once every two weeks. Pets use the restroom in sandboxes often.
- If cleaning (above) the sand seems not to do much anymore, it's time to get new sand completely. It could be too dirty to fix.
[edit] Warnings
- Make sure children do not go near the area while it's in "construction mode".
- Wearing safety goggles while pouring in sand is a must-- it can get caught in wind and come up in your eyes.
[edit] Things You'll Need
- -Multiple bags of sand (one for about every two square feet)
- -Wood
- -Nails
- -Gorilla Glue (or some other tough glue)
- a taco
